The short answer
A company one-pager is a single-page overview of your business: what you do, who you serve, the problem you solve, proof of traction, what makes you different and how to engage. Write it for one audience at a time. Prospects want relevance and proof, partners want shared customers and fit, and investors want market, traction and team.

Key takeaways
One audience per version: Prospects, partners and investors ask different questions. A page that answers all three answers none of them well.
Lead with who you serve: Open with the customer and the problem, not the founding year. History earns one line at most.
Cut what can't be checked: 'Industry-leading' and 'world-class' cost trust. Replace them with a named result, a customer type or a number.
Flip it for prospects: For a live deal, turn 'about us' into 'about you': their situation first, your company second.
What a Company One-Pager Must Include
A company one-pager has seven blocks. Together they answer one question for a stranger: "Is this company worth my time?"
| Block | What it says | Words |
|---|---|---|
| One-line description | What you do and for whom | 12 to 20 |
| The problem | What your customers struggle with before you | 30 to 50 |
| How you solve it | Your approach in two or three points | 40 to 70 |
| Proof | Customer types, results, notable customers (with permission) | 30 to 60 |
| What's different | Why you instead of the obvious alternative | 25 to 45 |
| Key facts | Founded, team size, locations, certifications | 15 to 30 |
| How to engage | Contact, next step, website | 10 to 20 |
The one-line description does the most work. If a reader stops after it, they should still know whether you're relevant. Our elevator pitch generator guide has a formula that drops straight into this line.

Adjusting the Company One-Pager by Audience
The blocks stay the same; the emphasis moves. Make a separate version for each audience rather than one page that tries to please everyone.
| Audience | What they want to know | Lead with | Cut or shrink |
|---|---|---|---|
| Prospects | Are you relevant to us, and can we trust you? | The problem and customers like them | Funding, team bios |
| Partners | Do we share customers, and will you make us look good? | The shared customer and how you fit together | Detailed pricing |
| Investors | Is the market big, and is this team winning it? | Problem, market, traction | Feature detail |
| Candidates | Is this a good place to do my best work? | Mission, stage, team | Product specs |
Prospects need the most tailoring. A buyer reading a general company overview is doing the work of figuring out whether you fit. Do that work for them by naming their type of company and their likely problem, using your ideal customer profile as the guide.
Partners need a "when to bring us in" line. A partner's rep reads your page once and has to remember it months later in a customer meeting. Give them one sentence that describes the situation where you're the right call.
Investors need numbers you can defend. Every figure on an investor page will be checked in diligence. Use only revenue, customer and growth numbers you can back with records, and date them.
What to Leave Out of a Company Overview
What you cut matters as much as what you keep. Most company one-pagers are too long because nobody wanted to delete their favorite paragraph.
- The founding story. One line, at most. "Founded in 2019 by two former freight brokers" is enough.
- Unverifiable superlatives. "Industry-leading", "best-in-class" and "world-class" read as filler. Swap each for a fact.
- The full product list. Name the two or three offerings that matter to this reader. Link to the rest.
- Every logo you've ever had. Three or four relevant, approved logos beat a wall of twenty.
- The org chart. Unless the reader is an investor, they don't need your leadership bios.
- Internal jargon. If your team calls it "the platform layer", your buyer probably doesn't.
A Company One-Pager Example
Here is a prospect-facing version for a fictional company. Northwind, its numbers and its customers are invented to show the structure.
[Northwind logo] northwind.example
Northwind helps freight brokers win more spot loads by answering
requests in minutes, not hours.
THE PROBLEM
Spot requests arrive in bursts. Pricing teams dig through
spreadsheets to quote each lane, so the fastest broker wins
and the careful one loses.
HOW WE SOLVE IT
- A suggested rate on every request, from live lane data
- One-click approval, so analysts stay in control
- Win/loss tracking by lane, so pricing improves every week
WHO WE WORK WITH
Regional and mid-size brokers across North America.
Typical result: most spot requests answered the same morning.
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT
Unlike rate-feed add-ons, Northwind works inside your existing
TMS, so analysts don't learn a new screen.
KEY FACTS
Founded 2019 | 45 people | Chicago and Toronto | SOC 2 Type II
LET'S TALK
A 20-minute walkthrough on three of your lanes.
Sam Ortiz, Account Executive, sam@northwind.example
Why it works: the first line names the customer and outcome, the proof describes customer types instead of name-dropping, and the next step is small.
Company One-Pager vs Product One-Pager vs Pitch Deck
These three get confused, and sending the wrong one at the wrong moment slows the deal.
| Asset | Best moment | What it answers |
|---|---|---|
| Company one-pager | First introduction, partner talks, investor intros | Who are you and should I care? |
| Product one-pager | Buyer is evaluating a specific solution | What does this product change for me? |
| Pitch deck | A scheduled meeting with time to tell a story | Why change, why now, why you? |
When in doubt, send the shorter one. A buyer who wants more will ask for it, and that ask is a buying signal.
From "About Us" to "About You"
For investors and partners, a strong general company one-pager is enough. For prospects, the version that gets forwarded is the one where the first paragraph is about their company, and yours comes second.
Keep the general version on your website. It works as the downloadable overview for inbound visitors, and founders often use it as the first leave-behind in founder-led sales before a full sales kit exists.
Flip the order for live deals. Open with what you noticed about the prospect, a launch, a hiring push or a new market, then introduce your company as the answer. The one-pager examples show how an account-specific page reads compared with a general one.
Doing that for every prospect takes time. The Edithly one-pager generator reads each prospect's website and writes a One Pager that leads with their situation, using the pitch, proof and brand it learned from your site.

Frequently asked questions
What should a company one-pager include?
Seven blocks: a one-line description of what you do and for whom, the problem you solve, how you solve it, proof such as customer types or results, what makes you different, key facts like founding year and team size, and a clear way to engage. Keep it to roughly 250 to 350 words with your logo and contact details.
What is the difference between a company one-pager and a product one-pager?
A company one-pager introduces the whole business: who you serve, why you exist, proof and how to work with you. A product one-pager sells one product, with capabilities and outcomes. Use the company version for first introductions, partners and investors, and the product version once a buyer is evaluating a specific solution.
How do you write a company overview for investors?
Lead with the problem and the market, then the solution, traction, business model, team and the ask. Investors scan for evidence that the market is large and that customers are paying. Use real numbers you can defend in diligence, and leave out product detail that doesn't support the investment case.
Should a company one-pager include client logos?
Only with permission, and only a few. Three or four logos that look like the reader carry more weight than twenty that don't. If you can't show logos, describe customer types instead, such as 'regional freight brokers in the Midwest', which is often just as persuasive.
Can Edithly make a company one-pager?
Edithly makes prospect-facing one-pagers rather than a general company overview. Add your product and it reads your website to learn your pitch, proof and brand. Then, for each prospect, it writes a One Pager that leads with that company's situation and introduces yours, shared as a link with a view count.
